The two main factors to determine the way in which Google provides ranking positions in their search engines (Google have openly admitted this);
Content (On-page optimisation) and Links (Off-page optimisation) linking to that website or page.
It would, therefore, be rather silly to build a website targeting Nike Trainers, with nothing related to those Nike trainers in the first place!
On-page optimisation is constructing a page that Google can read by looking at the meta titles, H1 titles, ALT tags and the content on that page. The content on that page has to be readable to a human being and not a robot, it has to be high quality, with no grammar or spelling errors and it also needs to contain the main KW phrase a few times that enable Google and the other search engines to understand what that page is primarily about.
