The content that can be found on websites that are listed on page one of Google for any search term can now be considered to be unique, authoritative and most of all very readable. But it wasn’t always that case. All though the 90’s and early 2000’s websites were being ranked simply by their content, and the number of times a particular Keyword Phrase appeared in the domain URL, the metadata and the website content itself – Keyword Stuffing.
So for instance, say that your Keyword phrase was ‘cheap running outfits’ and your content looked like this:
“Are you looking for cheap running outfits? If you’re looking for cheap running outfits, look no further. Our cheap running outfit’s website is the best place to order your new cheap running outfits. Feel free to check out our selection of cheap running outfits from our cheap running outfit selection below.”
How natural does this look or even read? Not very? In some cases, it might even be the case that the entire content on the website has been made unreadable by the keyword stuffing!
This is how things used to be:
If you wrote content for the search engines you would eventually run into trouble as your content would not read that well and in some cases not, appears to be written in English at all!
So How Should Content Be Written Now?
Simple – Write content in a readable manner, try not to have the Keyword Phrase mentioned more than 1-5% of the time, Google is pretty smart now at figuring out the main Keyword Phrase that you are targeting. Try to use synonyms as an alternative and make sure you use the main Keyword in the either the H1 tag, the Meta title or the URL as these are the strong points to consider.
As these changes are in relation to Google’s Panda update and we know that they are not likely to be updating this massively in the future, then the way in which the content is displayed in the search engines now is likely to stay for the foreseeable future.
So, if you use our services and want to know how the content will be written and managed to be in line with how all content on websites should be written, then we will oversee the posting of the content to the websites. We may not write all the content, some of it is outsourced to a UK based writer.
